The School of Philosophy (formerly Department of Philosophy) at RUC was founded in 1956. After fifty years, the School became one of the biggest philosophy faculty in the world. In Nov. 11, 2011, the was held to celebrate the birthday. More than 1000 alumni and current faculties and students attended the ceremony. For more details in Chinese, click here. |

In the recent nation-wide evaluation (2007-2009) about the first-rate disciplines by Chinese Ministry of Education, the School of Philosophy, Renmin University of China is rated second place among all Philosophy Departments of Chinese mainland, short of 1 score from the first one, Peiking University. |

"School Development Conference @ 2009" was held in 17-18th, Jan 2009 in Beijing. Nearly all faculties and staffs joined the meeting, and discussed how to develop the school in next few years. Hao Lixin, Dean of School of Philosophy, gave a significant report about the present situation and the future of the school. |

In 19-21st, Dec., 2008, first "Wittgenstein and Contemporary Philosophy" Conference held in Beijing, sponsored by Institute of Foreign Philosophy, Renmin University of China. Nearly 30 scholars of Wittgenstein philosophy from various universities and research institutes attended the meeting and published their papers. The Second Conference will be held in 2010. |
